Booklaunch Rescheduled

Two Books Celebrating Lasallian Pedagogy Off the Press
The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center (BNSCWC) in cooperation with De La Salle University Publishing House (DLSUPH) is launching the two-volume book by Lasallian teachers Kaming mga Lasalyanong Guro: Mga Tinig Mula sa 2401 Taft Avenue (KMLG) and We Lasallian Teachers: Memories and Perspectives from 2401 Taft Avenue (WLST) on March 16, 2023, 4:00pm – 6:00pm at The Learning Commons, 6th Floor, Henry Sy Sr. Hall. The launching is part of the 16th DLSU Arts Congress.
The Filipino volume KMLG is edited by Ernesto Carandang II while the English volume WLST is edited by Vicente Garcia Groyon. These twin books are collections of personal essays by Lasallian professors about their teaching life at La Salle Taft.
Some vital questions on Lasallian pedagogy are addressed in the essays: What does it mean to be a Lasallian educator? What aspects of teaching are unique to the Lasallian experience? How does the spirit of St. John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers, inspire and animate Lasallian mentorship and scholarship? What are the best and worst things about being a Lasallian teacher?
The twin books are important for they gather and preserve the stories and memories of Lasallian educators in the country; contribute to the history of Lasallian education in the Philippines; demonstrate the various ways by which the teachings and philosophy of St. John Baptist de La Salle have found embodiment in and animated the lives of Filipino educators and students; and engage critically with changing notions of Lasallian pedagogical principles, philosophies, and practices. Overall, the books preserve timeless and memorable stories that define for generations of educators the meaning of Lasallian education.
Contributors include the late National Artist for Literature Cirilo F. Bautista, Clodualdo del Mundo, Jr., Isagani R. Cruz, Ma. Lourdes S. Bautista, Marjorie M. Evasco, Efren R. Abueg, Jose Javier Reyes, Florentino T. Timbreza, Wilfrido V. Villacorta, Tereso S. Tullao, Jr., the late Exaltacion E. Lamberte, Antonio P. Contreras, Alfredo C.
